Dia de Los Muertos 🌼

Anytime we have the chance to showcase our student's culture and diversity, we strengthen their identities and expand our horizons. That's why when my administration team decided to celebrate for the first time Dia de Los Muertos at school, I jumped right in. With few boxes, black paper, and the creativity of a few of my fellow bilingual teachers we created an Altar or Ofrenda. We set it up in the cafeteria during the week, students, staff members were encouraged to bring photos, mementos, and items to remember their beloved ones. It was simply beautiful to see participation. This might seem simple, but is in moments like these when we build a better community, that learns, understands and support different cultural backgrounds and ideas.

Dia de Los Muertos was a chance to remember those we love, to learn from one and another and celebrate life.
