Hispanic Heritage Month was a little different this year. We took advantage of technology and our Read Alouds went virtual for a whole week. Every class at school was paired with a guest reader featuring an authentic voice Hispanic book. This way our F2F and VLA students participated.

Also, instead of the piñata contest, we switched to an Alebrije contest. Our students dazzled us with their creativity, even VLA was able to participate. The Traditional Attire Parade was turned into a Photobooth. The Bingo and Spotify Playlist were back and a hit as always.

The Hispanic Heritage Read Aloud Week also served as launching our Diverse Reads campaign.

We've been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Galloway since 2013. Every year our celebrations grew broader trying to reach the community. Involvement grew and grew, parting from the need to embrace, recognize and publicly value the rich contributions of Hispanic Americans. As years passed by, the importance of celebrating our student's cultural identity has strengthened. We thrive to embrace Diversity, every day of the year. #morethanamonth but let's tirar la casa por la ventana este mes!
