A new school year begins, new horizons ahead. Very few things compare to that beginning of school year feeling, a mix of anticipation, tons of lists, excitement, stress and little sleep. It is an intense creative moment, where we, teachers, face a blank slate to create our vision for a new year, when we receive a set of wrapped gifts to discover. It goes beyond classroom themes and decorations, color schemes, our catchy phrases. It is about a concept, a vision, an idea to share and instill in our students. This year, my school's vision is Going Global 🌎, my grade level represents South America, and lucky me, my class is Argentina. 🇦🇷 I love this idea, not only because I get to represent my home country, but specially because it's an opportunity to embrace cultural diversity. Those were the foundations to launch Cuarto Airlines, and Flight SNZ56, destination Argentina. On the first day, the Cuarto Airlines Captains welcomed the students with boarding passes and learning passports. Student's faces lit up, buckled up and we were off into a learning journey.
As I said, besides the joys of dressing up and designing, the real challenge is to set the tone, goals and focus for the year. Our campus focus is Formative Assessment, so one of my T-Tess goals is to design timely feedback procedures and implement them regularly, so students can monitor and self-assess their progress in Math.

My second goal is related to Prepare Students for a Global Society, focusing in designing and delivering lessons that require students to question, examine, create and solve problems within a collaborative positive interdependent setting. I will use this blog to reflect about these goals and our journey implementing them.
